"Women's Safety & Security"
Lunch and network with Skokie’s businesswomen. These monthly presentations will help you build your business and networking skills. This month features Officers Tammy Jacobsen and Eric Swaback of the Skokie Police Department, who will present on various safety issues and tips for women and their businesses.
Officer Jacobsen has been a member of the Skokie Police Department for 14 years and is currently assigned to the Crime Prevention/Community Relations Unit. She is a certified Juvenile Officer, known as "Officer Friendly" in the Skokie Schools, K-3. Officer Jacobsen oversees school drills and is certified as a Security Assessment Specialist by the Illinois Crime Prevention Association. She is also certified by the State of Illinois as a Senior Officer and organizes the local "TRIAD" group which brings seniors together with law enforcement though quarterly meetings and presentations. Officer Jacobsen also coordinates the Skokie Neighborhood Watch Program, which consists of over 200 active residential blocks.
Officer Swaback is currently in his 21st year as a police officer for the Village of Skokie, during which time he has been a patrol officer, a Field Training Officer and a member of the Special Operations Unit on the Traffic Unit. He has been a member of the Tactical Intervention Unit for 14 years where he served as a sniper for his first 7 years and as Assistant Team Leader for the Perimeter Team for the last 7 years. Officer Swaback is currently assigned to the Crime Prevention/Community Relations Unit. Duties in his current assignment include serving as the Department's Public Information Officer, organizing and running the Citizen's Police Academy, and social media outreach. Other duties include presentations to community groups, businesses, schools, and citizens as well as performing security surveys for private residences. He is a member of the Illinois Crime Prevention Association, Illinois Citizens Police Academy Association, and National Information Officers Association.
