"Demystifying Commercial Real Estate Appraisals: How to Get the Greatest Value from Appraisal Services"

- Owner/ users prior to renovating or selling;
- Buyers before making an offer;
- Developers to assist in determining the feasibility of a new subdivision; or to evaluate alternative development alternatives in order to determine a property’s most profitable use;
- Insurance companies for settlement purposes or to determine the proper coverage for a risk;
- Attorneys for estate planning (taxes, distributions), divorce settlements, creation or dissolution of partnerships and for support of other litigation including appraisal review and expert testimony;
- Government agencies for ad valorem taxation, eminent domain, and economic development purposes.
Michael J. W. Halliburton, MAI is a long time resident of Skokie, a member of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and a member of Skokie’s Economic Development Commission. He is currently the Vice President of the Peterson Appraisal Group in Evanston, and the Director of Religious Property Valuation (which specializes in the valuation of religious facilities schools, and not-for- profit properties). Mr. Halliburton holds the MAI designation of the Appraisal Institute, the world’s largest professional association of real estate appraisers, with more than 21,000 members in 60 countries. He has completed commercial real estate consulting and appraisal assignments for apartments, offices, industrial facilities, shopping centers, stores, land developments, hotels, and golf courses in 20 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. Appraisal services are provided for a variety of purposes, including but not limited to: financing, estate planning and tax returns, ad valorem taxes, insurance, and purchase/ sale decisions.
The Financial and Legal Professionals Roundtable is open to all licensed professionals in the financial, insurance, banking, accounting, and legal industries. Each meeting colleagues will discuss and share information of importance to their specific field and lead a discussion on the issues within that segment of the industry as they relate to the broader profession and their clients.
