New Urbanism In Skokie
New urbanism is a movement that emphasizes a richer quality of life through walkability, sustainability, eclecticism, and organic growth. Learn about the basic principles of new urbanism as it applies in Skokie, then join us in November for a follow-up interactive workshop. Speakers are Marisa Novara, director of the Metropolitan Planning Council's community development team; Phil Nyden, Professor of Sociology and Director of Loyola University Chicago's Center for Urban Research and Learning; Kyle Smith, manager for the Center for Neighborhood Technology's transit-oriented development initiative; and Zach Borders.
