2015 10/16/15: Skokie Chamber Breakfast Club
"Mentorship for the Boss"
Many entrepreneurs and small business owners don't realize three things when they decide to buy or start a business:
- It is lonely at the top
- You often make major business decisions without enough experience and information
- You don't have a clear and consistent plan to help you become a better leader of your company
How to overcome these things? The answer is simple. Find a coach or a mentor. It can have a profound, positive impact on your business and your life. Come to this month's Breakfast Club to hear Jerry Folz of SCORE Chicago present on the how and the why of finding a mentor.
Immediately following this month's Breakfast Club will be an optional, Interactive Focus Group with Oakton Community College from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. to hear what types of educational programs Chamber members are interested in that will positively impact their business. Attendance at Breakfast Club is not required to attend the Focus Group, and Breakfast Club attendees are not required to stay for the Focus Group. To register for the Focus Group, please contact Ron Smith, Sr. Manager, Workforce Solutions, Oakton Community College, at rosmith@oakton.edu.
Jerry Folz is an executive coach with 30 years of small business experience who currently works with 25 Chicagoland small business owners every month.
He is a Chair for Vistage international, the world’s largest peer-to-peer leadership development organization. Four of his clients are currently in this year’s INC. 5000 fastest growing companies.
He also volunteers as the Skokie branch manager for SCORE Chicago. He mentors small business owners and startups every other Wednesday at the Skokie Public Library.
The Skokie Chamber of Commerce's Breakfast Club is one of the Chamber's strongest monthly programs, moderated by Skokie Chamber members who are chosen by the staff as experts in their professional fields. These interactive meetings offer each attendee a chance to speak about their business, network with over 30 other professional community members, and interactively learn about our monthly business topics.
The Breakfast Club is presented by Home Helpers of Northeastern Illinois.
