The Skokie Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is actively searching for their next Executive Director to lead the Chamber in 2025.
The Skokie Chamber of Commerce Executive Director has the responsibility for the complete operation of the Chamber including programming, planning, operations, working under the policy and guideline of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible to the Board of Directors for the full range of activities: coordination of program of work; organizational structure and procedures; motivation of volunteers; income and expenditures; maintenance of membership; employment, training and supervision of staff and long-range planning.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all operations, asset protection, recruitment and marketing and public relations.
- In collaboration with the Board of Directors, develop, initiate and oversee strategic plans and budgets.
- Institute Board approved policies in accordance with federal and state requirements.
- All bookkeeping functions including payroll, weekly accounts payable and accounts receivables, credit card reconciliation, account reconciliation, financial reporting, and annual preparation for accountants.
- Hire, orient, train supervise and evaluate all staff.
- Manage all aspects of human resource management for staff including job descriptions, development, compensation, disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Solicit sponsorship for all Chamber events and programs and develop fundraising opportunities and additional revenue sources to support the Chamber.
- Manage membership sales, including goals and leads.
- Create and manage membership communications including newsletters, eblasts, social media and website.
- Create, coordinate, attend and manage new and current events for the Chamber.
- Actively market the Chamber to the community on a year-round basis including advertising, press releases, social media and marketing materials necessary to heighten business growth.
- Maintain and develop cooperative relationships with the local community, as well as civic and governmental agencies.
- Stay abreast of community, government and economic issues acting as a liaison to the Board and membership.
Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
- Successful completion of background check
- Experience in sales management, association management, business, financial, non-profit organizations and supervisory responsibilities.
- Chamber of Commerce or Association Management preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Zoom and all social media platforms.
- Strong supervisory and management skills.
- Demonstrated leader who is professional, flexible and adaptable with strong people skills.
- A commitment to positive customer service.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure and a strong attention to detail is a must.
- Public speaking with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- High degree of professionalism and integrity.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The employee is expected to balance time in the office and in the community attending meetings and events. Required to attend morning, evening and some weekend events and may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
The employee is required to stand for extended periods of time, sit, walk, and lift and move objects of varying weights. The position requires a valid driver license and automobile.
This is a full-time, salaried position with Paid Time Off offered. Regular office hours need to be maintained and an opportunity for a hybrid working environment is available upon approval by the Board of Directors.
Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some holidays.
