Switchboard Operator - Village of Skokie

The Village of Skokie is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of part-time Switchboard Operator/Receptionist, working Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Duties include answering telephones and directing calls coming through the Village’s computerized switchboard to appropriate departments/ individuals in a polite, expeditious manner, as well as assisting walk-in visitors; Assists the Village Clerk’s office in such duties as real estate tax transactions and voter registration; Processes and sorts daily incoming mail; Performs other general clerical tasks and other work-related duties as assigned.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Prior switchboard and/or administrative support in an office environment preferred; Must have excellent hearing, verbal communication skills, telephone and interpersonal skills, along with a pleasant and welcoming personality; Must be able to manage multiple calls in sequence; Must have the ability to operate moderately sophisticated office equipment including, but not limited to, the Village’s switchboard, personal computers, printers, etc.; Must be fluent in English; Bilingual skills helpful, but not required.

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.56 - $33.43.  The starting pay range is $25.56 - $28.17, depending on qualifications.
