Village of Skokie - Summer Seasonal Employment

Posted: 01/04/2026

The Village of Skokie has a limited number of exciting and challenging summer employment opportunities available!  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the time of hire. The starting hourly pay rate is $19.65.

Positions are available with our Finance, Fire, and Public Works Departments.  Job duties include clerical work, customer service, and manual field work such as weed control, dead animal removal, fire hydrant flushing, asphalt street maintenance, reading water meters, painting curbs, installing traffic signs, and other work-related tasks, as assigned.

Proof of eligibility to work in the United States is required for employment. Some positions require a valid Driver’s License.

To be considered for employment, please visit the Employment Opportunities page at skokie.org and complete a Village of Skokie Summer Seasonal application, or stop by the Human Resources Division (2nd floor) at Village Hall, 5127 Oakton Street and pick up an application.

All applicants being considered for employment are required to successfully complete a drug test prior to employment. To clarify, the drug test consists of a 10-panel screening, which includes cannabis. While the State of Illinois deems cannabis to be legal, Federal law considers it an illegal substance, and the Village of Skokie follows Federal law in this regard. Some positions require the successful completion of a brief physical examination prior to employment.

Completed applications may be submitted as follows:

  • On line, via the Employment Opportunities page at skokie.org;
  • Mailed or hand delivered to: Village of Skokie, Human Resources Division; 5127 Oakton Street, Skokie, IL 60077; or
  • Via email to human.resources@skokie.org.

Please do not return completed applications to any Village of Skokie buildings or offices, other than Village Hall.
